How to answer missed business calls with an assistant
Keep your business number, test carrier forwarding to Twilio and review what the assistant can safely tell callers.
You can keep your business number and forward calls you miss to an assistant. The setup depends on your carrier, so test an unanswered call before relying on it. A saved forwarding setting alone does not prove that the call reaches the right business.
Get the business ready
Open the Phone section in your business console and check that Twilio phone service is available. Add accurate business information and a short instruction about what the assistant may tell callers. Do not include passwords, payment credentials or private customer details.
Decide whether the assistant should answer only calls forwarded when you miss them or calls to a shared Rasphia number. Check the usage and plan details shown in your account before turning on a paid feature.
Set up and test forwarding
Use the forwarding instructions shown in your account or your carrier’s own settings. Carrier codes differ by country and network, so do not rely on a code copied from an old guide. Forward calls only for the situations you want covered, such as when you do not answer or the line is busy.
Run the built-in test and let your phone ring without picking up. If the carrier does not identify which number forwarded the call, follow the setup screen’s instructions for verifying the route. Then call from another phone and confirm the assistant greets the caller as your business.
Review the assistant’s answers
Ask a few questions a real customer might ask. Check that the assistant uses only your business information, does not promise an appointment or quote an unlisted price, and takes a useful message when it cannot settle something. Review the call summary afterward and correct any unclear business details.
Forwarding depends on your carrier and phone settings. Test again after changing your number or SIM, and use the stop-forwarding instructions shown in your account when you want calls to stop reaching Rasphia.
